MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A trip to the Milton flea market ended with a big repair bill for one man.

Firefighters say the driver of a truck was leaving the flea market this morning when he crashed into the gate. That caused the gate to smash his windshield and go all the way through the truck and smash out the back window.

The driver was not hurt. Firefighters say the man told them he simply did not see the gate.

hey COB! if he was leaving the flea market then the gate was open and being open would make it hard to see if you are looking at it from the end so this could be done very easy sorry everyone isn't as perfect as you!!! also it does stick out in the road!!

How sad that all of these people that commented on this poor gentlemens plight with such flippant responses. The gate is very confusing, and is hard to see. If you are depending on a flea market to make extra money to live on and you tear up the only transportation you have. I would say the gentelman needed sympathy and not ridicule by people who had no clue as to what really happened and how it effected this obviously distraught eleder gentleman. Perhaps these commentators could use a lesson in compassion.

I would have been intereted in two other facts concerning this crash. 1, was this man elderly? And 2, was this man talking on a mobile phone?

While at the Milton Flea Market last weekend my boyfriend said someone was going to do just what this man did. The gate protrudes out with no markings and if you happen to glance to the sides running into the gate would be very easy to do.

What did he do sleep at the flea market last night? The gates closed every evening.
