CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The YWCA of Charleston has set up a fund to help the family of Nalisha Gravely.

She's the woman that was shot and killed inside the Taco Bell on Patrick Street on Saturday.

Thursday the YWCA and the city of Charleston opened up a fund to help the family with funeral and burial expenses.

City leaders say the West Virginia Crime Victims Compensation Fund will provide up to $7,000 of the $12, 634 in expenses for the funeral. This fund will hopefully cover the rest of the expense.

Thursday Mayor Danny Jones presented a check for $1,000 to the YWCA to help set up the account. West Virginia MetroNews talk show host Hoppy Kercheval has also pledged to contribute $500.

Mayor Danny Jones says the family still needs $4,134.77 to cover the full amount of the funeral and burial expenses.

Deb Weinstein, president of the YWCA, said "the organization is working with Ms. Graveley's family to deal with the aftermath of Nalisha's murder. She said "money collected beyond the total needed for the funeral and burial will go toward living expenses for Nalisha's child."

If you would like to donate to the fund you should send a check to:

Charleston, WV 25301

Nalisha's friends have been organizing several fundraisers in Charleston to help her family with the funeral costs. Now the city hopes this fund will help.

Desmond Clark is now behind bars charged with Nalisha's murder.

He's expected to be back in court next week.

it is nice that everyone is coming together to help this family with the expenses, but i don't ever see danny jones making a big deal over the other victims who have been murdered over the years due to domestic violence. everyone wants to blame the magistrates, the circuit judges, but you cannot make the victims stay away from the abusers. DVP's & bond orders are not bullet proof. victims need to wake and and stay the heck away from their abuses, there are so many programs to help them and if they cannot utilize them the community should not blame the court system.

To Beth: I have heartfelt sympathy for this victim as well as her child. This, no doubt, has been a nightmare for her entire family. But when you say that the "state" and the "government" owes her child "a chunk of money" you're saying that I, and every other taxpayer of this state should pick up this tab. If the system is corrupt, as you say, let the corrupt individuals pay. I don't have a vote in Kanawha County. If I did, I'd start by voting them out. Why not sell the SUV of that jerk that murdered her? He's not going to be needing it where he's going.
