KENTUCK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man's scout's instincts likely saved him and a 3-year-old boy after they were lost in the woods for hours.

It happened early Friday morning near Woodrum Lake in Jackson County. Emergency officials tell us someone reported the two missing at about 1 a.m. after they were out hiking and didn't come home.

They got lost seven miles from their car -- but the 67-year-old man decided to stay put at the dam while it was dark instead of walking around.

Crews found the two at about 3 a.m. Firefighters from both Jackson and Kanawha Counties assisted in the search.

The man and boy were not hurt.

Your information is flawed. I was one of the men that rescued the two and they were not hiking, they were fishing. Furthermore the rescue team did not rescue him, it was me and three other men who were not part of the fire department or any other organization involved. We are members of The man's Church.

This is so *not* what happened! The man was my grandpa and the toddler was my nephew and this is not what happened. I don't know where you got your information but *most* of this story is incorrect.
