ORIGINAL STORY @ 3:16pm
HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person was killed and another was hurt in a crash on Interstate 64 in Putnam County.

It happened at about 2:30 p.m. just east of the Hurricane exit.

911 dispatchers tell WSAZ.com that one vehicle is involved in the accident -- and the car landed in the median. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, the other taken to the hospital, according to dispatchers.

Dispatchers say both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed. Traffic headed east should get off at the Hurricane exit, and westbound traffic should get off at the Teays Valley exit.

We're told the interstate will be closed for some time.

WSAZ has a crew on the way to the scene. Keep clicking on WSAZ.com for more information.

Thank you so much for following up on this story. I graduated with the lady that was killed. I may never have known that she had died if not for your coverage. My prayers are with this family.

I know so many people who drive that road so I wish the names could be released. I know the families need to know before it is broadcast but it makes me sick to my stomach wondering if it's someone I love. God bless the families of these people.
