Posted by: to former smoker on Jul 28, 2008 at 07:24 PM
You regulate it just like all other drugs ie oxycotin valium xanax it aint that hard the govt would legalize it but with the ease to grow they havn't figured that part out yet but just like booze and tobacco they will and then all the drug dealers will really be mad but until then they can still sell and be happy just like the bootleggers

Posted by: to sorry on Jul 28, 2008 at 07:12 PM
See the pot helps you from being sick you probably have some sort of intestinal problem just think what ur life would be like if u didnt have pot have never heard or seen any withdrawl symtoms like you describe so i dont think it is withdrawl please get to a different doctor your life may depend on it

WHY IS IT WHEN THE POLICE LET THE DRUG DEALERS DRIVE RIGHT BY THEM THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!LAWRENCE COUNTY DRUG TASK IS A BIG JOKE?

Posted by: Former Smoker on Jul 27, 2008 at 11:56 PM
I can remember smoking pot and being too stoned to drive or just driving around the block a bunch of times and laughing because I couldn't get out of Huntington. So for those of you who says it doesn't affect your driving... you're in denial. Smoking pot may not make you a violent person, but it does make people do things illegal such as stealing so they can buy more pot. Maybe if you smoke it daily you build a higher tolerance to be able to function. I do agree with it being legalized for medical purposes but how would that be regulated?

Posted by: Tommy Chong on Jul 27, 2008 at 05:36 PM
If we decriminalize this, that would take care of our over crowded prison population and allow more room for the REAL CRIMINALS! If the government can find a way to regulate and tax marijuana maybe we can take care of the national debt, Medicare, war expenses. Or we could take the tax $ and throw it in to alternative fuel research...the list goes on.

I am addicted to MJ. I do not know of anyone who has OD, I guess if it was possible I would have. I am very unhappy. I have smoked for more than 25 years, everyday. They say it's not addictive but I personally know it is. I have asked my Dr. to help me. Her reply was "theres so much worse things you can do than smoke pot" It made me wonder if she smoked herself. There are no treatments avaliable that she knows of. If I stop smoking I vomit, have chills, dirrahea, cannot sleep, have no concentration. I spend on average 500-700 (hundred) per month. My Husband earns a nice salary, but I am behind in our bills. I would not be if I were not spending the money "elsewhere" I go around greedy selfish people to buy it. People who I would not go around for any other reason. I have let them insult me and still buy from them. Pot was always there for me, when I was lonely, sad, alone, happy it didn't matter. For me it has become a nightmare. I went for 30 days clean & was still sick. I gave in.

to survivor: whats your story?

Posted by: anonymous on Jul 26, 2008 at 05:57 PM
Crime rate would go down because the people selling it and the people buying it wouldn't be having to hide it anymore. They wouldn't be scared of getting caught and they wouldn't be killing people out of fear of getting busted. The government could make millions off of it if they could find a way to control the growth of it. Do some research of your own, you'll find out that marajuana is one of the nations highest selling crops. Why not make some money off of it? Our nation would have more money if they would.

SEE I TOLD YOU YOUR BRAIN WAS SO CLOUDED BY ALL THAT SMOKE! YOUR STILL NOT GETTING THE REAL TRUE PICTURE!

Posted by: Pee Wee on Jul 26, 2008 at 01:48 PM
Now what do you think they did with 280 plants?

Posted by: To L on Jul 26, 2008 at 01:46 PM
Do not realize that you sound like a propaganda recording created by all the great politicans in this country that have waged this tremendiously sucessful war on drugs and look where it has got us more drugs than ever before. how about using the time you waste looking out your window to educate yourself look to the countries that have legalized pot and see what their crime stats are now compared to the US and see what they were before legalization for the proof. of course the govt dont want people to do this because they still have not figured out how to make a profit off it and how on earth could they explain ;osing the millions they waste in housing pot users. but like booze they will figure it out someday then it will be legal then they can work on getting real drugs off the streets just like the other countries that wised up

Posted by: To Lori on Jul 26, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Kudos to you finally someone who does a little research and realizes what the real deal is along with norml also check out november.org to review the effects of this great patriot act

280 plants wow i know deputies that grow more than that and the value was set a little low whats up with that maybe they want to just make the blind faithful happy with a feel good story but not to much attention to bring the bci in then there would be less profit for lawrence county. figured at their own estimates of 1800 an # if these were average plants they will yeild 1/2 pound per plant which is 140 # @ 1800 equals $252,000.00 but if it is good smoke it will sell for $300 an ounce which makes the haul $672,000.00 along way from the 80 to 100 reported but i guess if i was planning on selling it id want the most profit i could get so destroy 100,000 worth and sell the other half million and everyone is happy the uninformed are happy that we got this terrible drug of the streets and were happy that we can turn the rest loose at a profit and in these hard times we need all the help we can get and no one is the wiser thank you lcsd

TO FORMER HEAD-OH BELIEVE ME IT IS WHAT I THINK AND YES MAYBE I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WATCH WHAT GOES ON IN MY NEIBORHOOD, BUT ONLY TO PROTECT THE INTRUST OF ME AND MY FAMILY! I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE CHILDREN! PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE SO BLIND WITH IGNORANCE THAT YOU CANT SEE PAST THE SMOKE THATS CLOUDED YOUR BRAIN! MARIJUANA IS ILLEGAL AND SHOULD STAY THAT WAY! I DO BELIEVE IT HAS A PROPER USE WHEN IT COMES TO AN ILLNESS. BUT, I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS INTENDED FOR USE OF ROLLING IT UP IN A JOINT TO BE SMOKED! IN THIS USE IT IS A DRUG NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT. AN ADDICTION IS AN ADDICTION WHICH LEADS FROM ONE TO ANOTHER.

uptight morons that are old and out of touch with reality think marijuana is the real problem facing us these days.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 08:53 PM
how would making pot legal make violent crimes go down?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 04:07 PM
WM. Where are you getting your stats from? and Thomas i dont know anyone OD'ing on poison ivy after they get into a patch of that. But guess what? its bad for the body also.

Posted by: no sheep on Jul 25, 2008 at 03:44 PM
Bob, independent studies dispel the myths about marijuana which you perpetuate. It doesn't cause cancer and it isn't a "gateway" drug. The government doesn't always tell the truth. Look at the Iraq War. Better yet, look at these articles on recent marijuana studies for the truth on the topic: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/25/AR2006052501729.html http://www.rand.org/news/press.02/gateway.html

this is to bob and L, you need to smoke it and see for yourself it isnt what you think. you both need to get a life. i bet L is one of those neighbors that sit at the window and calls 911 everytime the wind blows the wrong way. you need to be disgusted with youself for being such a prude. i feel sorry for your husband or wife. marijuana is an herb bob and L and it ues to be leagle.it really is harmless. but thanks for your mundane and prudish comments.make it leagle it may be the cure for something...who knows? cops need tpo get rid of the bad stuff!!!!i know your listening...

Posted by: anon on Jul 25, 2008 at 02:34 PM
to bob, i guess you've never smoked pot? pot dont make you not want to work. its lazy people that dont want to work.and to thomas i agree with you. toanonymous on july 25 @1:38am most people that sell pot dont have a veriety on drugs to sell. some may but not the majority. trust me.if it were leagle violent crimes would go down i bet. pills and such are the real problem, not weed! i say free the hemp!!!!!!!

Posted by: anon on Jul 25, 2008 at 02:25 PM
how about a pill sweep? thats a little bit worse than weed. c'mon marijuana isnt the problem, its pills and herion! marijuana dont affect you the same as pills, alcohol, herion,or even cigarettes. please, law enforcement need to get rid of the pill and herion problem first. are they affraid someone is going to smoke weed and eat or laugh themselves to death? or better yeteat or laugh someone else to death? now this is to L.,get a life i think your just bored. weed is harmless. when was the lase time you seen on the news anywhere that someone overdosed or was killed because of marijuana? i know its illeagle but its not as bad as the real problem drugs. look at the other news stories. marijuana should be last on the list of any drug sweep.use the manpower to get rid of the pill and herion problem.think about that all you prudes.

Posted by: Tommy Chong on Jul 25, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Bob you're so adorably ignorant! I suppose you have never witnessed someone dieing of Cancer, withering away because the Chemo makes everything taste like metal and their appetite is all but out the window. Marijuana is a plant with fantastic medicinal benefits that educe hunger and allow patients a fighting chance to get the proper nutrition that THEY NEED to combat their disease. And it's not only cancer...many treatments for a number diseases are substances that suppress hunger, thus the patient can benefit from that particular side effect. Not to mention the fact that it's an effective pain killer. And I challenge you to find a case where someone smokes pot for the soul purpose of getting in a vehicle to wreck and kill someone. (please, you're grasping) And on a personal note, I'm not voicing my love for the drug...rather voicing my love for the people in my life who could benefit from it's legalization.

Posted by: To Bob: on Jul 25, 2008 at 02:08 PM
That is the silliest thing I've heard. People who smoke & then will be too lazy to work! Rediculous! Just another pot fable.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 12:58 PM
marijuana is petty. alcohol kills more people than all illegal drugs combined. look it up.

Posted by: SMOKEY on Jul 25, 2008 at 12:13 PM
OH, BITE ME BOB ! You're probably an alchoholic.

Posted by: L on Jul 25, 2008 at 11:13 AM
I AM SO DISGUSTED! A FEW WEEKS AGO A NEIGBOR JUST A FEW DOORS DOWN FROM US WAS ARRESTED FOR HAVING 44 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA WHICH THE POLICE FOUND IN HER POSITION. HER HEARING WAS YESTERDAY AND APARANTLY ALL CHARGES WERE DROPPED AGAINST HER AND SHE IS BACK HOME! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COURT SYSTEM. WHY ARE WE EVEN BOTHERING IN CHARLESTON TO KEEP DRUGS AND CRIME OUT OF OUR NEIBORHOOD WHEN NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO KEEP THESE CRIMINALS WERE THEY BELONG! WHEN IS IT GOING TO END!

Posted by: Lori on Jul 25, 2008 at 11:11 AM
If the average citizen wants to do something about legalizing canibus, I would direct you to the website NORML.com. Let your voices and votes be heard. Also, I would suggest you revisit the Patiot Act. It is what is allowing police to search vehicles and property without a warrent. Also, I believe we need web cams on cruisers. The vast majority of officers are behaving properly. But a few bad apples are giving police a bad name. Alot of people do not trust law enforcement. The trust needs to be brought back, and the bad apples weeded out.

95% of plants found on state or federal property? Hmmmmm.

Posted by: cxs on Jul 25, 2008 at 08:38 AM
Legalize it and concentrate on the harder drugs like heroin and meth.

i dont know of anyone overdoseing on pot or losing there lifr to pot but i knnow a lot of people that it help when they were dying from cancer

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 01:38 AM
Do you people not understand when people grow and sell marijuana they most of the time are selling other things to go with it? So they are getting other people when they find this stuff it sometimes takes time. You know the drug dealers are supply and demand people and they like to keep the shelves stocked with a large variety. They got what you need. MJ to cocain.

Posted by: Bob on Jul 25, 2008 at 01:35 AM
Someone said find them a person who has OD on marijuana? Well I don’t know many have but what about the people who smoke it, then don’t work because they don’t feel like doing anything but get into a vehicle and wreck and kill people because of smoking it? And by it not being legal it’s the buffer zone of not letting harder drugs become legal. And who in the world didn’t become a junkie with other harder drugs with it not starting with marijuana? If you people love your stupid dope so much and want it so bad then MOVE to a country that lets you smoke it. I have never really met anyone that’s worth a dang that smokes “a little bit of marijuana”. And they do get other drugs off the streets. Its just not often you come across a field where people are growing pills. This stuff has to stay stationary for a little unlike other things. You dope lovers love when WSAZ has something on here about marijuana so you can voice your love for this DRUG.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 25, 2008 at 01:09 AM
What a waste...you never hear of anyone dying from a marijuana overdose. I agree, spend time and money looking for the hard stuff.

Posted by: jenine on Jul 25, 2008 at 12:41 AM
They need to get the harder stuff off the streets. crack heroin meth etc. I think pot should be the last thing on their list. Thanks for wasting the tax payers money on something pointless

Posted by: clem on Jul 24, 2008 at 11:46 PM
i always wondered if the people behind this were the higher up people and the pawns who buy and see for them are the ones getting caught. could it be possible?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Go find the drugs that kill people, crack down on the dr's that just hand out oxycontin for no reason!

Posted by: DC on Jul 24, 2008 at 09:32 PM
No Marijuana should NOT be legalized! I do believe like others on here that we should use our tax dollars on getting the harder drugs off the street.

Posted by: High Times and High Prices on Jul 24, 2008 at 07:48 PM
I cant help but wonder how much money it costs for helicopter fuel and manpower wages to find those plants because the Government does not see any tax money from it. Thank you big Government for spending my hard earned tax $ on finding a plant with medicinal purposes and then destroying it. Pure genius! If anybody can find 1 just (1) one case of a person overdosing from Marijuana then please post the link to prove it. To quote the late great comedian Bill Hicks: "Marijuana should not only be legalized but for some uptight people it should be made mandatory for them to smoke it."

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 24, 2008 at 06:18 PM
Who really cares about the marijuana anymore ?? Get the real drugs off the street. They give you more time for the marijuana than they do the drugs that are killing so many

Posted by: SS on Jul 24, 2008 at 05:24 PM
Job well done Lawrence County!!! We are lucky to live in such a great place. Thank you for keeping our community a great place to live!

WAY TO GO PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Posted by: GOOD JOB on Jul 24, 2008 at 03:32 PM
GOOD JOB, BUT IF THEY WOULD LEGALIZE MARIJUANA THERE WOULDN'T BE AS MANY PROBLEMS. THERE IS FAR WORSE STUFF OUT THERE METH, COCAINE OXY (WHICH IS BY RX BUT ABUSED FAR WORSE THAN THIS) THIS COULD BE SO BENEFICIAL TO CANCER PATIENTS, GLAUCOMA PATIENTS AND THERE ARE OTHER TREATMENTS THIS IS USED FOR

Posted by: ann on Jul 24, 2008 at 02:56 PM
but do they tell who growed them or just where in lawerance county do they tell
