CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A popular hiking trail at Coonskin Park has been turned into a golf driving range. Now, the people who used to hike there want a new trail.

A group of people met Thursday with Park Superintendent Jeff Hutchinson and Ken Dzaack. Dzaack is a consultant from the Canaan Valley Institute.

The group is asking for a well-maintained trail to replace the other one.

Hutchinson and Dzaack voiced concerns about making sure the trail could be accessed by emergency vehicles in case something happens there or at Yeager Airport.

Right now, there's no timetable set for when to get a new trail in place.

The consultant plans to walk around the park and come up with a plan.
