UPDATE @ 7:11am Thursday
TAD, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department says speed and reckless driving could be factors in an ATV accident that killed a teenager.
It happened Wednesday evening in Tad.
According to a news release, Lieutenant B.C. Stover says the ATV rider and a truck were headed in opposite directions on Campbells Creek Drive when the ATV crossed over the center line and hit the truck head-on, causing the rider to be thrown from his ATV.
The 4-wheeler rider, 16-year-old Michael Odaniel, died at the scene. The truck driver, 31-year-old Bradley Hall, was not hurt.
Stover says Hall was not cited in the crash.
"Excessive speed and reckless driving by the ATV driver could be contributing factors in the crash," said Stover.
Deputies are continuing to investigate the accident.
