CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston police say they've arrested the man they believe robbed a local movie store.
The robbery happened Wednesday evening at the Movie Gallery at Ashton Place.
Police say Paul E. Parrish II, 43, of Charleston, walked into the store with a small box and a note saying if he didn't get the money, he would set off a bomb that was inside the box. We're told that bomb was actually an empty Jello dessert box.
The clerk refused to give him the cash so he took off.
Police caught up with Parrish and arrested him on Thursday.
Detectives say Parrish later confessed to the robbery. He also told officers "he was having financial problems and wanted money for cigarettes and gasoline."
Parrish is now charged with first degree robbery. He's at the South Central Regional Jail.
