CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Doctors at University Pediatrics in Teays Valley are seeing some kids with a gastro-intestinal bug -- causing some vomiting and diarrhea.

They've also seen a few cases of strep throat, and also some viruses that are causing a fever with no other symptoms that just goes away on its own after a few days.

Not a whole lot of illness going around among children in Logan. The doctor at Healthy Habits Wellness Center has seen some children complaining of a sore throat, but they are not testing positive for strep.

You'll remember last week we told you some mosquitoes on Capital High School's campus in Charleston tested positive for West Nile Virus. The school was not going to use its soccer field until the area was sprayed with insecticide.

Anita Ray with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department said Tuesday afternoon that the area has been sprayed, and there's no reason not to use the soccer field, but she still recommends anyone in that area use bug repellent with Deet in it.

In South Charleston, pediatrician Gilbert Goliath says he's diagnosed some cases of enterovirus. It's actually a family of viruses responsible for many different symptoms. He's seen some children having issues with vomiting and diarrhea.

He's also seen a couple of small chicken pox outbreaks among preschool age kids. He's seen 3 cases in the last week, which he says is a lot since the chicken pox vaccine has been available.

In South Shore, Kentucky, Dr. Greg Hudson at Christ's Care Pediatrics says he's seen quite few patients with hand, foot, & mouth virus, which, like its name suggests, causes sores in mouth, and sometimes on the hands & feet, past couple weeks. He says it's pretty contagious but not usually serious.

He's also seen some upper respiratory infections, and something else that's causing vomiting and diarrhea. None of those has tested positive for rota virus, but that is something doctors will be keeping an eye on.
