MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia University football player has been sentenced to two years of probation for drug possession.

Senior linebacker John Holmes was sentenced Monday in Monongalia County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession. The judge suspended a six-month jail sentence pending completion of his probation, which includes community service and random drug testing.

Holmes and teammates Ed Collington and James Ingram were arrested in February after officers found marijuana during a traffic stop. All three were kicked off the team, but Holmes was reinstated.

Ingram, a former defensive lineman, awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of and conspiracy to possess marijuana. The case against Collington, a former running back, is pending.

So that's why our defense sucks now! The stupid cops are causing us to lose them! So what they got high during off season after they won the bowl game after their coach deserted them! WOOPIE! It's just a little weed, at least they weren't making meth!

I got pulled over 2 months ago coming home from the wal-mart plant nursery. They searched me high and low with a k-9 unit also. I dont do drugs, but i guess with all the plant supplies i had for the wife's garden they had to pull me over to see what was up. They brought in 2 city and one state cop to search my truck. I originally said no to the cops searching my truck mainly due to the fact i have absolutely nothing to hide and afterall it is my truck with my things in it. After some harsh negotiation and the threat of being detained until a search warrant can be issued by a judge i let them search the truck. They let the k-9 move freely thru the cab, and its an old work truck, but that wasnt the point. I felt like i was in China or Iran. I felt humiliated on the busiest street in town. The worst part is, a week after the incident two city police come to my house when im not home and drill my wife with questions concerning drugs. Is this America? I think not.

Only an idiot would throw away a free education for some stupid drugs. None of them would likely be starters for WVU, but they would still have a free education from scholarships.
