FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A mother was arrested after police say she got on her child's school bus and threatened to kill the bus driver and the students on board.

Police in Floyd County have charged 28-year-old April Davis of Auxier with 44 counts of menacing and one count of terroristic threatening.

The alleged threats were caught on the bus surveillance camera. Authorities are not releasing that video for the students' safety.

Floyd County School directors say the Prestonsburg bus was full of elementary and high school students Tuesday morning when April Davis climbed on board.

Sgt. Tim Clark with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department watched the bus' surveillance video. Clark says Davis first threatened to kill the bus driver.

"Basically, she was going to take a knife and cut this school bus driver's head off," Sgt. Clark said.

Then he says she threatened the 44 students on board.

"The kids were going wild. This lady was screaming at the top of her voice, just absolutely scared these children to death," Sgt. Clark said.

School directors say the bus driver quickly called for help, and officers responded.

"I actually feel that it wouldn't have taken much more for her to be combative and hurt or kill someone on that bus," Sgt Clark said.

Investigators say Davis was mad over an earlier incident involving her own child on the bus.

"I don't think there's any reason for any parent to react the way this lady did," said Floyd County Superintendent Henry Webb.

Davis was in court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She is expected to be back in court in November.

i have only read a few comments so far but i just had to say some things.. i understand what the mom did was not the right way to go about it and being a mom of two my self i would have lost it if my kids was on the bus . but those us of that have kids really can see way she went off. you can try to go threw the proper route until you are blue in the face and guess what NOTHING will be done about it. for 2 years now this one girl on my kids bus has been bully not just my 2 and over half of the kids on the bus. i talk andf talk to the school and school board this the only thing has they just talk to her. now get this one my husband and i talked to the bus driver at the end of the school year last year. and she tolds us she does,t know what to do about it. because no one will do anything to stop this child. and she also bullies the bus driver. she said she is terrifyied of this child. so this mom really went to far but really what are we to do if the school will not do anything.

It doesn't matter if her child was being bulled - terrifying innocent children by threatening to kill them doesn't excuse her actions. If her child was being bullied she should have taken the proper route instead of acting as a bully herself.

For those of you defending her right on. I can remember cruel things happening to kids on the school bus and nobody would do anything about it. If bus drivers and the school board would kick these kids off the bus their parents would get tired of finding ways for them to get to school and start punishing them for their actions. This is why I will do everything in my power to keep my child off of the school bus. I love my kids and I don't want anything to happen to them. It is really sad when you have spoiled brats who keep good kids from being transported to and from school. I think if anybody should face charges it should be the bus driver and whoever is over the board of education for continuing to provide an unsafe environment for this child.
