LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – The Louisville Courier Journal is reporting that John McCain's double digit lead over Barack Obama in Kentucky is shrinking.

Senator McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, still holds a significant 49 percent to 39 percent lead over Senator Obama, the Democratic nominee. Other polls placed that lead at around 20 percent back in August.

The poll also found Kentucky’s senate race between incumbent Mitch McConnell and challenger Bruce Lunsford is nearly tied -- with McConnell holding a slim one percentage point lead.

The poll also found that 85 percent of likely voters believe the country is on the wrong track. That's the highest percentage since the Bluegrass poll began asking the question in 1990.

I lived in eastern KY. for 20 years. I don't see Obama having a snowballs chance in KY., especially the eastern counties. LOL. This creature is a joke anyhow. Who would even vote for him, except some crackhead idiot.

When you all decide to vote, think of what would be better for the next generation, and not just yourselves...

Posted by: Karen on Oct 3, 2008 at 10:54 AM
McCain stated on CNN 9/28 "I will not vote to pass this bill if it has earmarks on it" got to think of country first as he's said many times.Well he voted for it!one more lie he's told.Glenn Beck"John McCain has lost the election"lies are the downfall Mitch McConnell voted with him,got to help the country, and CEO's that pay his reelection fund $3 million.

This is God speaking to all.... Leave me out of the election. I have no place in an election agenda, especially when it is for self righteous reasons. And anyone who ties me to their political agenda for personal gain (being elected) are not those of the church, but those of illusion, wolf in sheep clothing. Reminder that the platform of those who claim to be righteous, is what it is, just a platform. They talk, but put forth no effort to change abortion, gay marriage, etc. They use their trickory and use their platform to get your vote, in turn doing nothing. I love all my children...gay, lesbian, straight, black, white, grey, sinners and saviors...Remember that.....

Are all of you McCain supporters crazy! I think you need to start doing a bit more research and realizing what this whole democratic ticket is about. And did you not watch the debate, John McCain gave us his whole foreign policy in silence, because that is exactly what he would do. Ignore anyone he didn't like or didn't agree with his views. AND HEAVEN FORBID he kicks the bucket while in office because then Palin, someone who thinks foreign expereince consists of living close to Russia would then be our President. Sheesh! And talk about a puppet. Palin repeats every word she gets in her speech seminars and then when you ask her a question she has not been trained on she tells you she will have to get back to you. I am sure Putin would love for her to answer his questions, I am sure she would have to get back to him! OBAMA 08!

Posted by: Open Minded on Sep 30, 2008 at 05:43 PM
Why can't some of you people just be open minded about the election? To call Senator Obama "Osama" is a reflection of the small-minded people who elected George Bush-----TWICE! I don't know about you, but I have a good education and a good job, but it doesn't feel like it on pay day. Vote your conscience, but if you think that McCain/Palin will do anything to ease your pain on payday, you need to do some more research. Best wishes to all on November 4th!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 30, 2008 at 03:48 PM
Cleareye you must be blind neither Obama nor McCain voted for it. Shows how much you know it was the House of Representatives that voted yesterday not the Senate. Get a clue. If you look at the polls Obama is even closer in WV and OHIO.

Posted by: OMGAH! on Sep 30, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Get rid of Osama Obama! OMGAHHHHHH!! What is wrong with people?

The rest of the state of Kentucky better wake up and wake up soon. Our country is on the brink of disaster having suffered through the past eight years of deceit, irresponsibility, unlimited spending on an unjustified invasion, an economic crisis at the hands of the greedy, a failing education system, and a health care system that none of us will soon be able to afford. Obama deserves a chance, but even at that, the mess he will be inheriting would take a genius to get us out of. Facts are facts though, McCain has demonstrated he is not the man for the job because his first crucial decision landed him a running mate that has had to take classes just to enable her the competency to debate. She thinks she has foreign policy experience because Alaska is next to Russia? McCain has clearly supported the Bush administration, and I would be highly proud of my State of Kentucky if we stand up for change to recreate pride and integrity by supporting Obama and to "Ditch Mitch."

Nancy Pelosi needs to stand behind what she said that made the republicans so mad & made everyone rethink their vote. She along with the rest of congress that was voted in when the dems became the majority knows why American people put them in office. She is doing what America asked her to do ,stop George Bush economic policies & right-wing ideology of anything goes,no supervision ,no discipline,no regulation of financial markets. She is 100% correct..I don't think McCain represents the kind of change we need. Aparantly so do a lot of other voters. Mitch McConnell's policies doesn't seem to be helping Ky either.

Take another look, your vision's distorted.Your man Barak also voted for the bail-out,and has is elbow deep in the money from most of the players involved. In fact, he is the second highest recipient of funds from one of the firms over a nine year investigation period, and he was only on the scene for three and a half of those years. Imagine what a commanding lead he could have had if he had been a senator for the entire nine. It is also extremely hypocritical to cast stones at McCain for being a "mouthpiece" when anyone with any sort of power of observation can almost see the strings attached to Barak's arms and legs whenever he gives a speech. Barak is incapable of speaking clearly and maintaining a relevant thought process while answering "off-the-cuff", but is quite a talker when the puppetmasters are pulling the strings. Ironic that the press berates Rep's for grammer(i.e Bush's "words" and Quayle's spelling) but have said nothing of Barak's continuous stammering and use of "Um..um"

They can say whatever they want. I know I have not went to any polls yet, so that tells you not everywhere in KY are they doing this. I can say this much. McCain will be President. I know in the town I live in and around us everyone is for McCain. GO MCCAIN AND PALIN!!!

Posted by: Doug on Sep 30, 2008 at 08:40 AM
Lets make it happen in WV as well folks...

Posted by: Jim on Sep 30, 2008 at 08:23 AM
As the economy sinks further and McCain still don't think it's bad enough to make regulations to stop the CEO's from robbing us blind, much like he did when he was part of the Keating 5,in 1989 he and daddy Bush wrote the Financial Act to stop any one from regulating the money people, only cost us $293.8 Billion that time, now he wants to do the same thing!Of coarse Mitch go's along with anything they want.So if you want more of these good times support the Bush people who got us here.

The GOP has been putting party first and country second for the last 8 years and looks where its gotten us,Obama has ties to "radicals", I'd rather have ties to radicals than crooks, some of McCain's highest staff officers made millions off ripping off the American people through Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and democrats and voter fraud? Get serious we all know which party isn't afraid to steal an election

US Diplomats from both parties 200 total edorse OBAMA over the weekend. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/09/28/200_former_US_diplomats_endorse_Obama/UPI-58941222655586/

Sorry but Obama is not gonna win here in November. As for McConnell - well. its time to send him home this year. He has become nothing but a puppetfor W. (Not saying Lunsford is anything great; just better than mcCon). Political leaders are worthless

Posted by: Vote McCain on Sep 30, 2008 at 05:37 AM
people from Ky can be talked in to anything. Obama probally promised them a raise on thier foodstsmps.

Posted by: MrObvious on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:49 AM
Do ya think that the Louisville Courier Journal could even try and hide their bias in this article? Geesh, it is a wonder they didn't short out the keyboard when their drool dripped into it...

Posted by: Wayne on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:47 AM
McCain has wisely created a watch-dog group, voter fraud allegations are rampant with the Obama people. He still has ties to radicals,Wright,Shabaz, and big mouth Al and Jesse

Posted by: Cleareye on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:26 AM
McCon will pay a heavy price for trying to sell out the American people with the bailout of the rich investors on Wall Street at their expense. He has been exposed completely as the mouthpiece of big business as he attempts to defraud our government once again.

Posted by: To Anonymous on Sep 30, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Just give Barak a couple of days to get some poll results and he'll change what he thinks. But nobody talks about that. Go figure.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 29, 2008 at 11:42 PM
The tide is going out on McCain. He may still pull off WV, Ky and even Oh but he won't take the cake.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 29, 2008 at 11:20 PM
it appears that mccain knows what he is talking about obama thinks he knows what he is talking about
