POMEROY, Ohio (WSAZ) – A mother is in jail after police say her 3-year-old boy was found at the scene of a meth bust.
After getting a tip, authorities searched a room at the Meigs Motel late Thursday night.
That's where they say they found meth-making materials and other controlled substances.
Donald Carnahan from Long Bottom and Leann Dill from Pomeroy were taken out of the room and straight to jail.
Dill's 3-year-old son was present at the motel room, according to the Meigs County Sheriff.
Meigs County Children's Services took the boy to a relative's house.
"It's dangerous for the adults, let alone a child,” Meigs County Sheriff Robert Beegle said. “You never know when the chemicals are going to explode."
Officers from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, the Middleport Police Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and firefighters from the Pomeroy Fire Department were also on the scene, according to a news release from Meigs County Prosecutor’s Office.
The motel had that room cleaned up Friday. It's now back to normal operation.
Because the child was present, Carnahan and Dill are charged with second-degree felonies.
Carnahan’s bond was set at $500,000. Dill’s was set at $250,000.
