Police many times rely on your help to identify and catch accused criminals. Now, another example: two men caught on tape after a vicious beating and robbery on the east end.

The Charleston Police Department has named these men two of Charleston's Most Wanted. Detectives believe these men attacked and robbed another man on Elizabeth Street--just a few hours before they were seen at a bank, trying to use the victim's ATM card.

The pictures were taken on June 10, 2006, just after 6am at the Chase Bank on Washington Street near the capitol. The robbery and beating happened at about 1:30am the same day.

Police say the victim was just walking to his car, when he was hit in the head and knocked out—and his wallet was taken.

The suspects weren't very lucky---after two tries, police say they couldn't figure out the pin.

"To cause someone a lot of pain and discomfort by hitting them or striking them, or knocking them to the ground, dragging them around, or whatever they try to do, just to try to get a few dollars, it really alarms us along with the public," said Detective Scott Dempsey with the Charleston Police Department.

Police say the suspects are likely in their early to mid twenties. One is about 5’6” inches tall -- the other 5’9” tall. Detectives say they’re facing first degree robbery charges.

If you have any information about either of these men, call the Charleston Detectives at (304) 348-6400 or 348-6480.
