A man just leaving work and walking to his car became the target for a group of teenagers.

Police are now investigating his murder.

It happened just after midnight Thursday night at a parking garage across the street from the Town Center Mall in Charleston.

One teenager is in custody.

Police are expecting to arrest two people.

It's all in connection with the attempted robbery and murder of Joshua Boggess.

Boggess was 25-years-old.

He worked at Chili's in the mall.

Police say he left work and was walking to his car at the Laidley Towers Garage Thursday night when a group of teenagers tried to rob him a gunpoint.

Boggess fought back and was shot and left to die in the parking garage.

Police arrested the shooter Friday morning.

Several friends who were with him called police to say they had no plans to rob or kill anyone. It just happened.

But police say they will file felony murder charges for anyone who was part of the crime.

The victim's girlfriend is pregnant and he was working two jobs in an attempt to get ready to become a father for the first time.

Police says Boggess had no connection whatsoever to these kids.

They call it a random act of violence.
