No one likes paying taxes, but a city councilman in Charleston is accused of slamming a door at the Kanawha County Tax Department so hard, the glass shattered.

It all happened around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon inside the courthouse. The criminal complaint states that Talkington disagreed with the amount of money he owed. The complaint alleges that Talkington slammed the door into the wall of the courthouse. Deputies charged him with destruction of property.

Talkington told us over the phone Wednesday night that he was frustrated over the situation. He says the door banged on his way out of the office, but he didn't know the glass had broken. He told us if he broke it, he is willing to pay for it.

In 2003, Talkington was accused of hitting a police officer with his car. He was cleared of the charge last November. The judge dismissed the case after the city of South Charleston didn't appear at two scheduled court hearings.
