At least 15 people had to flee their homes this morning after fire broke in a west Huntington apartment building.
It happened around 3:30 this morning in the 13-hundred block of Jefferson Avenue. Police officers in the area were first on the scene and were able to get into the building and wake everybody up. They had the building evacuated by the time firefighters arrived. No one was injured. The fire started in the back of the building. Firefighters were able to quickly contain it. No word yet on what started the fire. The Red Cross is providing shelter for the families displaced by the fire.
