Huntington hopes the movie will help boost tourism and “We Are Marshall” movie site map could be a good tourism tool. This map will feature all the film locations of the Marshall movie and direct people to places around town they just might recognize from the movie.
When the Marshall movie becomes a big hit Huntington leaders hope people will want to visit the city where Hollywood shot many scenes of we are movie. That's why a handy site map is in the works.
Craig Warner of the Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau says, “It’s a good step to bring people into Huntington.”
The filming locations of the Marshall movie will be pinpointed on a special fold-out map. Among the many filming locations is The Keith Albee, The Memorial Fountain and campus basketball court.
During our coverage of the Marshall movie our cameras were not allowed at several locations.
Like Spring Hill Cemetery where funeral scenes were shot, emotional scenes inside the Campus Christian Center and others like the one shot that took place on Merrill Avenue with extras going to the Xavier game.
The Visitor's Bureau plans to invest $10,000 to $12,000 on a site map. The $75,000 movie site maps will be placed in restaurants and hotels around town. And even at rest areas in nearby towns and states.
The maps won't be available until a time close to the movie's release.
