Violent testimony today in another death penalty double murder case. Both sides admit the suspect used a shotgun to kill two people in their own home, in front of their young children. But the question is, was it premeditated murder or something else?

In opening arguments the prosecutor said evidence would show Clyde Reddicks simply escalated a Carter County neighborhood feud with Jeff Bub Flaugher and girlfriend Teresa Leadingham from verbal and nasty to physical and deadly.

David Flatt, Reddick's attorney said the evidence would show a reclusive, suicidal decorated veteran of bloody Vietnam combat never really recovered, and when provoked by repeated taunting and threats, Clyde Reddicks snapped and started shooting.

The victim's family members say Vietnam combat stress doesn't begin to excuse two people shot to death. Just before the death penalty case, defendant Kathy Reddicks pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of hindering apprehension of her husband Clyde. She will testify for but not against her husband.

And some question whether it's proper that the murder victim’s small children hear such violent testimony, the prosecutor and family members say these kids have every right to see and hear what happened to their parents.

Kathy Reddicks faces up to five years in jail, home confinement, or probation. She'll be sentenced late next month. Clyde Reddicks eath penalty trial will last into next week.
