Video will be available shortly

It's been four days since Hakeem Brown was shot on a street corner on the east end of Charleston, and still no word of progress is only adding to the pain his family is feeling. On the radio and on the streets it's talk that doesn't come cheap because not only does it add up, it's meant to send a message!

Gloria Brown is Hakeems mother. “My son did not deserve to die the way he did" she says today at a fundraiser for her son. The murder of Hakeem Brown is calling a community to action. Today a local radio station teamed up to help raise money for the Brown family and a push to stop the violence.

TeeJay The DJ usually is on the air with “The Beat” but today, he’s raising money for Hakeems family. “There's other things for you to do...you don't need to run the streets late at night...
If you're friends are doing things that are not productive...you don't need to run with them” he said.

Hakeem's own mother says: that's where her son made his biggest mistake. “He just sometimes made choices to hang with the wrong people but he was still a good child " she said. TJ the DJ says, "You're either going to the jail or you're going to the grave...you don't want either one of those ". Case in point: three teenagers from Charleston are facing charges for the murder of Joshua Boggess, a man who was just walking from the mall to his car when he was shot and killed during a robbery attempt.

Mrs. Brown says, “It can happen to anybody...i mean really wake up and sop the violence...just do something with their lives...the streets is not a place to be for any child". Words of advice from all around. Given with the hope that they won't fall on deaf ears.
