CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man from Elkview is heading to federal prison for 3 years.

Federal prosecutors say 38-year old Samuel Olivio defrauded his former employer, NGK Sparkplugs, of more than $400-thousand.

They say the scheme involved the extraction and sale of platinum contained in scrap parts he stole from his former employer.

Prosecutors also say that Olivio admitted under the grant use of immunity that he defrauded NGK of additional monies.

Bedsides the prison sentence, Olivio was ordered to pay restitution of $972,000.

Prosecutors say a second person involved the scheme, Pedro Zaragoza, pleaded guilty to his role in the crime back in September.
