A jury convicted Terri Castle Friday morning of first degree murder in the death of Lana Hanson.

There was absolutely no reaction from Castle herself, but the victim's family applauded when the verdict was read.

This verdict is somewhat of a surprise when you consider Castle had a chance to take a lesser plea before the trial started and she would have only faced 10 years in prison.

Now, she faces life in prison with at least 15 years in custody before any chance parole, and that's only if she gets mercy in sentencing.

The jury decided Castle was lying when she denied being on crack and killing Hanson because Hanson stole drug money.

This happened in June of last year.

Castle still says it was an accident.

A sentencing date has not been set for Castle.

A jury will now have to decide if Castle should receive mercy in sentencing or face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
