A woman died in a three car accident in Kanawha County Friday night. Deputies say two cars wrecked after one car rear-ended another while traveling in the north bound lanes of I-77. Then, investigators say those two cars flew across the median and into the south bound lanes, where one of the cars hit another car head-on.
It happened just before 6pm near the Tuppers Creek Road exit in Sissonville. One of the victims: Gretchen Cooper of Teays Valley was flown to the hospital, but later died. She was 34 years old.
Three others were taken to the hospital. No word on their conditions. Traffic on Interstate 77 was shut down for more than four hours.
