Original story
PIKE COUNTY, KY (WSAZ) -- A woman was killed Tuesday after police say she pulled her car into the path of a tractor-trailer.

It happened just before noon Tuesday in Belfry. Kentucky State Police troopers said the woman was pulling out from the parking lot of the Dollar General store along Route 119 when she was hit by the truck.

The woman died at the scene. Police have not released her name. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Route 119 was shut down for several hours while investigators reconstructed the accident scene. The highway is now open.

We received the news at about 1230. This was a tremendous blow to the entire family. Granny was such a good lady and loved her Daughter and grandchildren very much. The only comfort in this is that she is now with her sons Rodger and Joey. Pray for her daughter, Linda and her grandaughters Kathy, Debbie, and Kay Kay.

I think people are getting this accident confused with the other one in Sydney. This accident was not Norman Hayes' accident. His was single, no other vehicle involved. Just wanted to clear that up for everyone.

Anonymous at 8:37 PM Jeff is referring to a separate accident which occurred shortly before the one in which the lady was killed. There were two fatalities within 90 minutes in Pike Co. this morning one involved a coal truck in which the driver Norman Hayes was killed, the other involved a car and tractor trailer in which they lady was killed. God bless both families and everyone keep them in your prayers.

Kathleen was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed... we were just a few seconds behind the wreck and there was nothing anyone could have done to save her she went in peace to Heaven and now will be with her son for the holidays God Bless her family and pray for them

Norman Hayes was a wonderful man. He was devoted to his Savior Jesus Christ and his wife Tonya. He had a wonderful drive to serve Christ and was blessed with a powerful voice for singing praise in his Church near Louisa. He was the guiding light for his wife who is devestated. Please keep the entire Hayes family in your prayers and remember that we know not the hour nor the day that our life will come to a close. Giving your heart and soul to Christ is the only assurance the is for eternal peace. Norman made sure he was ready when he was a small boy. God Bless!!!!

My heart goes out to these families. But wsaz? Why post both accidents together? Are peoples lives lost just as commonplace as stocks on the dow? Are we to the point in the media where we group families loss by the county we live in?

Rest in peace (Great) Aunt Kathleen

The driver of the coal truck is Norman Hayes, a cousin of mine and a member of the Singing Hayes Family gospel group. This is such a tragedy especially at the holidays. Norman was a fine, fine, christian man and was all of his life, so I take joy in knowing that he is in a better place, though he will be missed so very much. Please pray for this Godly family. It's going to be very difficult on them because they were so close to one another.
