CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people are under arrest after an incident in Clendenin in which West Virginia state troopers claim they were nearly hit by a vehicle. One more person is on the run.
It happened around 7:30 Tuesday night in Clendenin. State Police say they got a call from Metro 911 that a maroon Dodge Durango was driving recklessly on Bufflick Road. Troopers followed the Durango onto Kieffer Fork Road when the driver turned off the headlights. After coming to a dead end, state police say the driver, Stephen Krein, turned the Durango around and nearly hit troopers. Troopers say they fired shots at the tire on one side. Troopers say Krein eventually stopped his vehicle and ran into the woods.
State Police arrested Natasha Marie Ray, 18, of Walton, WV , Alisa A. Root, 21, also of Walton, WV and Joshua B. Shafer, 23, of Elkview, WV, who were allegedly in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop and also ran from the vehicle. They were all charged with fleeing in a vehicle, fleeing on foot and obstructing.
Troopers searched for Krein for awhile, but were unable to find him.
