TUESDAY UPDATE: Following a press conference concerning new locker rooms for the school's basketball program, MU President Dr. Stephen Kopp spoke on the state of the football program.
Kopp told reporters the program is heading in the right direction.
Sunday night story
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Marshall University Director of Athletics Bob Marcum said Mark Snyder will remain head football coach.
In a statement, Marcum said, “To avoid any speculation concerning our football program, Mark Snyder is and will remain our head football coach.”
After Saturday's 38-35 loss to Tulsa, Snyder told WSAZ Sports Director Keith Morehouse that school officials told him "nothing" about next year.
"We're planning on hitting the road recruiting (Sunday)," Snyder said.
In four seasons as Herd head coach, Snyder has a 16-31 record (13-19, C-USA).

Tommy Tubberville, regardless of what the Auburn administration say, was forced to resign yesterday while posting an 85-40 record. He won 68% of his games and he's out of a job. Mark Snyder has won 34% and we're stuck with him. I heard the decision to keep him was Kopp's and his alone. The Board of Governors weren't even consulted. That's probably how the extension came about as well.

People, wake up. Enough is enough. Snyder needs to go. He received a contract extension before he even had a winning season. Marshall is a joke now in the football arena. Shame should be laid on the people that made the decision to jump to C-USA. The school was not ready and I think Pruitt knew that.

Michael, I have to disagree with you concerning Snyder's time as the OSU defensive coordinator. Even his bio indicates 2004 was the only year he was the DC. 2004 wasn't a good year for the Bucks. They finished 8-4 and gave up 18.2 points per game. Maybe that's why Tressel didn't put up a fight to keep him. From his bio: "Snyder came to Marshall after four years as an assistant coach under Jim Tressel at Ohio State University and was coming off of his first season as the Buckeyes' defensive coordinator."
