Good news for Putnam General does not mean the community is backing down yet. Word Monday that CAMC plans to buy the hospital is a good start.

But until it's a done deal, members of the community say they want their feelings to be known. They got the chance to do just that during a standing room only rally.

There was clapping on the inside and standing room only outside. It was a packed house filled with people who have stories that explain why Putnam General is so vital.

For example, many patients here see Dr. Leonard Fichter including Deborah Hatfield who drove a hundred miles to show her support. For years, she's been fighting bone cancer and always returns to Putnam General.

Former State Senator Oshel Craigo also says two other hospitals, St. Marys and Thomas are also interested in buying Putnam General. So if the CAMC deal were to fall through, there are alternatives.
