People are more likely to stick to their exercise plan if they work out with a friend or partner, even if that friend is a furry friend.
The exercise isn't just good for you. It's helping to keep your pup healthy as well. Dogs are fighting the same battle of the bulge as humans. One estimate is that 40 percent of all pet dogs are overweight or obese.
Dogs really need to exercise. They have as many problems with obesity as humans do and we all could use more exercise.
Dr. Weitzman comments, "Certainly they need exercise to take care of those extra milk bones and extra table scraps, leftover Chinese food, things like that."
Not every dog can or should run especially those that are obese or are Dr. Weitzman says we should also be very careful about running with dogs, even healthy ones, when it's extremely hot.
