The controlled chaos at airports everywhere is getting better. But two days after we learned U.S. planes were terrorist targets, security is still stepped up.

All flights within this country, including those at Tri-State Airport near Huntington are still on orange or high alert. It appears the increased security is here to stay, and many passengers say things are slowly getting back to normal.

From the nation's busiest airports, to the ones here at home, two days after a terrorist plot against America, air passengers are slowly adjusting to the new normal.

Reid Frye was heading to St. Louis for business. He says increased security is the price to pay for protection.

“They went over the stuff with me as far as what we can't take on and things like that and what to expect as far as delays and things of that nature,” said Frye.

For years, things like lighters, knives and scissors have been banned. Now, with the nation's terror warning at high, most liquids and gels have been added to the list. That includes even seemingly safe items, like a bottle of water.

Rhonda Cicciaro was visiting family members in West Virginia. She's flying for the first time in 15 years, but Rhonda came prepared.

“I knew enough not to carry on any luggage, so it went real smooth for me,” said Cicciaro.

That's the trend across America. Folks understand the threat, and cope with the changes.

The Department of Homeland Security says for now, the threat level will remain at orange, and inbound flights from London remain at red.
