The 28-year old woman at the center of a scare at Tri-State Airport in Wayne County was expected to fly home to Michigan today out of Tri-State. Instead, Rima Qayyum left in a car.

This all started Thursday when the woman from Barboursville attempted to board a flight on the first leg of a trip to Michigan Thursday. Her parents live in Jackson, Michigan. She was detained most of the day Thursday while airport officials waited the results of testing on bottles found inside her carry-on luggage. Late Thursday, the results showed that the bottles did not carry explosive substances.

Qayyum's second flight was set to leave before 1 p.m. Friday at Tri-State Airport. Qayyum was not on the flight. The FBI and US Airways both initially pointed to each other for the reason Quayyum was not on the flight. However, late Friday, Jeff Killeen with the FBI in Pittsburgh said, "It was a mutual decision with the FBI and Miss Qayyum that flying was not in her best interest because of the intense media attention."

Valerie Wunder, a corporate spokeperson for US Airways, told wsaz.com and WSAZ the FBI wouldn't let Qayyum fly today. We asked Wunder if the FBI releases Qayyum to fly, if US Airways will allow her on the plane.

"We'll work with the FBI and cross that bridge when we come to it," Wunder said.

Qayyum's mother, Mian Qayyum, said she believes her four-month pregnant daughter was targeted because she was wearing a head cover, is Muslim and is a native of Pakistan.

"I'm just really worried for her. She has been up all night, she hasn't slept for the last two nights. She has been abused and i don't know....she and now she's being abused by the system. At first, she was abused by her husband and now she's being abused by the system just because she's wearing a head scarf," Mian Qayyum said.

We did get word that federal authorities are doing more tests on the bottles of liquid that were confiscated from her yesterday. The focus of those tests is believed to be on the residue on the outside of the bottles.

However, the FBI says Qayyum was free to leave.

"The FBI does not consider the bottle's owner or the bottles to be a threat at this time," Killeen said.
