HICO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- 911 dispatchers in Fayette County, West Virginia, say two people were killed and another seriously injured in an accident on Route 60.
It happened just before 10:10 a.m. Monday morning in Hico.
Dispatchers say only one car was apparently involved in the crash.
According to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, 76-year-old William Sexton Sr. of Hico was driving east on Route 60 in his pickup when he lost control, crossed the road, went over a hill, and hit a tree. His passenger, 46-year-old William Blair of Ansted also died at the scene.
Another passenger, 18-year-old Clarissa Crist of Princeton had to be cut out of the truck. She was flown to CAMC General in Charleston where her condition is currently listed as "under evaluation."
Deputies say there were no skid marks on the road, so they're trying to figure out what caused the driver to run off the road.
Route 60 was closed for more than an hour, but it's now back open.
