Some folks in the Kanawha Valley might tell you the spring season is missing something at Stonewall Jackson Middle School…a baseball team.
So that's why parents and their teens are all on deck to get a team suited up. They’re all working together to hit a homerun!
Once the cars are clean, it means these boys can play ball and not just watch.
It’s a sport not funded by the Kanawha county school board.
So in the meantime, the kids are putting on a different kind of mitt, and building the team from the inside out.
Players will be required to keep their grades up to stay on the team, so the activity is an incentive. And the lessons aren't necessarily about baseball.
It’s a hope in the future to have a countywide league, just like football and basketball and track. But until then, you might be seeing your reflection in a whole lot of clean cars.
