BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man is facing a long list of charges after deputies say he tried to rob a Wal-Mart store.

It happened Monday night around 10 at the Wal-Mart on Route 60 in Boyd County.

According to the sheriff, employees spotted 30-year-old Glen Fields Jr. of Morehead trying to break into a locked stereo case with a pry bar to steal a car radio. As those workers approached Fields, he then struck a worker in the leg with the tool.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested Fields. After being placed in the back of the cruiser, the sheriff says Fields began kicking the back window.

A Kentucky State Trooper who was on the scene opened the door and was kicked.

Fields faces charges of first degree robbery, assault, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.

If you called 911 from the 854 area..then you got carter co 911. Trust me-I know this. Ever since the new 911 went in at grayson, anything close to them wil be intercepted by them. Either way, you should not take the law into your own hands. That makes you know better than the criminal.

Actually, anonymous, they have never been to my house. However, I did call for them one time when myself, my teenage daughter, her friend and my 5 year old little girl were being shot at while visiting a cemetary. I called for the police and they NEVER came!!!! Those idiots could have shot us all dead and been long gone. This is the honest to Gods truth. Not one officer ever showed up. I have a scratch on my vehicle where a bullet ricocheted and hit the side. The side my 5 year old was sitting on. I did need there help. So how much was it that you were wanting to bet.. Idiot!!!!

Morehead has a WalMart, why didnt he just stay home and rob them, that way he would know everybody at the local jail. Sounds to me like this guy is a candidate for a job at NASA(rocket scientist).

TO DISGUSTED----The cops were there in less than a minute. I bet you have a tough job. I would love to watch you in action. I bet you are the true hero......the cops did not just come and pick him up. the employees did not hold him at bay. sounds to me like they have been to your house a time or two. Thats why you dont like them. I bet one thing is certain. Whether you like them or they like you, if you call for them, they will be there. So keep bashing the same people you will call for help. ONE DAY, whether you like it or not you will need their help. Coward-

YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. I WILL PRAISE THE OFFICERS ANYTIME I LIKE. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT READ IT. THESE MEN AND WOMEN DO THE BEST THEY CAN. ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PEOPLE LIKE THEM THAT ARE UNDER PAID AND RECIEVE DISRESPECT FROM A LARGE PART OF SOCIETY. THESE OFFICERS ARE OUT NUMBERED,HANDS DOWN! THROWING AWAY "YOUR MONEY"? I BELIEVE ITS EVERYONES MONEY THE LAST TIME I CHECKED. YOUR MONEY ALONE DOESNT PAY THERE SALARY. EVERYONE REALIZES THAT WALMART EMPLOYEES CAUGHT THE SUBJECT STEALING, THE POLICE WERE CALLED IN WHICH IS THE NORMAL THING TO DO, YOU KNOW? THE POLICE ARRIVED AND TOOK OVER THE SITUATION AND THE SUBJECT BECAME COMBATIVE AND ASSAULTED A OFFICER AND AMONGST OTHER THINGS. THAT OFFICER IN FACT IS A FRIEND/NEIGHBOR OF MINE THAT GOT ASSAULTED AT THE SCENE. THAT OFFICER WOULD GIVE HIS SHIRT OFF HIS BACK FOR YOU. YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY BEFORE YOU SAY IT. GO TELL THE OFFICERS TO THERE FACE IF YOU THINK THAT.DONT HIDE! GOOD JOB

TO" TICKED OFF BOYD CO-Seems to me I remember BCSD coming to Trace road and Badgett Roasd and get 1 pound of cocaine a few years back.I also seem to remebe them solving about 8 or 10 burglaries in the 854 area over the past few years. I think I may have seen them road checking right at the intersection of 854 and Norton Branch sevral times. Get your facts straight before you embarrass yourself and your neighbors. Your roads are patroled every night. Unless you are sitting up "Tweaking" looking out your windows, you may not see them. I fyou do decide to play judge ,jury and executioner, I PROMISE you will see them KNOCKING on your door. Please come up with a better joke than the donut joke. Its old and not funny anymore. The BCSD does an awesome job. I get tired of hearing, "There are some that need to go to jail" - go apply toughguy....I bet you wouldnt stay a month! EVRYONE at the BCSD is top notch. great job guys

I was there in the courtroom when this person went before the judge, his bail is set for 50,000.00 cash the newspaper made the mistake of saying what his bail is set for. Their where however several other inmates that was there for stealing from the Walmarts there.

Oh please, quit praising these cops. The employees at Walmart caught this guy and held him at bay. all the cops did was come and pick him up. These cops around here are worthless! I love throwing my money away to pay for lazy, dirty cops. Kudos to the 3 honest good cops in our area. I haven't met you yet and I don't know what your names are but I figure there must be at least 3 of you guys. Wake up people! Learn to protect yourselves. The home invasions, murders and robberies are going to get worse. Do you think these pill popping losers are going to go away on their own. I would wager that most, if not all, crime around here is connected to drugs and the losers that use them. Haven't you ever wondered why it is so hard for the cops to find them? I see them every day!!!!

You must be thinking of the ashland walmart this is common and they are rude there so thats the store you must be thinking of. i have never seen employess at cannonsburg walmart just standing around, you have to look for them, you must be thinking of the door greeters or when they are called for meetings and is waiting for management. but i guess your just one that assumes that they should automatically know you need help next time walk up to them and ask for help, electronics is the only area that you will find some one all the time.. my husand has been cussed out cause no one is in a specific department and threatened several times cause no one is available, so dont comment on things you really know about if the employess that are " standing around" is up front thats customer service managers, and or they maybe waiting to clock in or they are off the clock and are talking.. but never do you find any one hardly in a department..

I MENTIONED IT BEFORE...INSTEAD OF BASHING THE SHERIFFS OFFICE. GO UP THERE AND APPLY TO SEE IF YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.. YOU WILL SEE REAL QUICK THAT IT IS NOT AS EASY AS YOU THINK TO COVER EVERY ROAD IN THE COUNTY. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO.. YOU HAVE CONSTANT CRIMES BEING COMMITTED OUT HERE. THE SHERIFFS DEPT IS RAN FROM ONE END OF THE COUNTY TO THE OTHER END EVERY NIGHT. THE POLICE CANNOT CREATE MIRACLES. THE CRIMES COMMITTED TODAY ARE ALL RELATED SOMEHOW TO DRUGS. THERE ARE MORE DRUG ADDICTS AND ALCOHOLICS THAN POLICE. YOU ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE ON HERE THAT IS QUICK TO RIDICULE THE POLICE INSTEAD OF SUPPORTING THEM. YEAH, THERE ARE GOOD ONES AND BAD ONES EVERYWHERE. JUST LIKE DOCTORS,LAWYERS AND SO ON. TO: TICKED OF BOYD CO... DRIVE YOURSELF OVER TO THE SHERIFFS OFFICE AND SAY WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY TO THEM..DONT GET ON HERE AND HIDE BEHIND THE COMPUTER.. YOU CAN GET THE SHERIFFS OFFICE OUT THERE WHEN YOU BECOME THE JUDGE,JURY AND EXECUTIONER.. THEY WILL BE COMING OUT THERE TO SEE U..

This is in reply to the "so called workers at this Walmart being over Worked" Everytime I'm in this store there is always 4 or 5 workers standing around, and none of them will help you.

I know a few people who works at this walmart, its totally understaffed and the employees has to work like 3 people, they take risks to catch theives every day, I am greatful that no one was killed or hurt more than what this person was,but still some one was hurt if the store had the employess it needed then stuff like this could be stopped and the parking lot omg drug deal city, not a night goes buy with out something going down. walmart needs to get off their lazy behinds and protect the employees and customers that come in there.. no one knows what goes on if you dont work there or know of some one who does its horrible.all walmart wants to do is cut hours and cut employees to save them money. to the person who wrote abt 854 in rush, sheriffs office, ksp only come out when they have to. rush has a bad reputation but i know of a couple people they need to look into with stuff that goes on out there. why build in carter co, the criminals would have a better escape routes

Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 30, 2008 at 10:21 PM
you know what would stop the thieving in Cannonsburg Walmart? BUILD ONE IN CARTER CO!!!!!!!

Posted by: ticked-off BOYD CO on Dec 30, 2008 at 09:38 PM
well, I guess maybe thats the only way the Boyd County Sheriffs Dept. could catch someone. They may have done good in this iccident, but why can't they catch dopeheads that lives in places that they won't patrol. Its sad that trying to get a routine patrol in our area is harder than trying to catch a crab out of a Crabtree (LOL).Trace Rd,Badgett Lane, and 854 is just some of these areas that need attention severely. Before long, they will be on our road because I am about to play judge, jury, and executioner and take it into my own hands. Further more, I think that most of the deputies are decent but there are a few that needs to be arrested themself. The police know these people are dealing drugs and destroying property, now they are in possesion of stolen property.I'm sick of trying to beg these AS_holes to get out here and do something again to the samegroup that has been arrested several times. To the officer with the ba_ls to arrest my neighbor, I will buy you 1126 doughnuts.

OH MY GOD WHAT AN IDIOT.

Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 30, 2008 at 02:53 PM
I was there shopping and it was scary. The cops had this guy and he was yelling and cussing. He was yelling at one of the cops and moved toward him and another cop grabbed him and was dragging him away from all the people that were in the aisles. He was kicking and screaming. I have never seen anything like this. The cops did a great job. I am glad to know that we have heroes like the cops that were there protecting us. This guy acted like he was crazy! It made for an interesting conversation on the way home fomr walmart. I hope the walmart worker is ok. I never saw an ambulance, but I left with my kids after he was taken to the back of the store.
