VANCEBURG, Ky (WSAZ) -- A former Lewis County, Ky. doctor has been convicted for a second time of writing illegal prescriptions.
According to an Ashland newspaper, a jury found Fortune J. Williams guilty of one count of illegally prescribing a controlled substance.
The jury recommended Williams be sentenced to the maximum five years on the charge.
In 2003, Williams was found guilty on four counts of writing illegal prescriptions and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In November 2006, the Kentucky Supreme Court overturned Williams’ conviction and ordered a retrial.
Williams will be formally sentenced on January 30.
