HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A church in Hurricane has an outreach center where people can go for food, clothing, and support. They rely on donations, but some people aren't giving to the cause; they're giving to help their own cause.

Anyone is welcome through the doors of Faith Mission, but the problems come when its doors are shut. Some people unload their donations at the thrift store while no one is around.

“They’re dumping things that are undesirable,” Faith Mission Pastor Art Hage said.

The unwanted donations don't stop at the door. They spread all the way to the road, where people leave everything from unwanted chairs to old tires, and cleaning up comes at a price.

“We have to either haul it to the dump or put it in the dumpster, and it takes people to do that, and everyone of us here works for free,” Hage said.

“Anybody who wants to leave something here, all they have to do is call me,” he said. “If I’m not here, I’ll be glad to meet them.”

Faith Mission is open Monday through Saturday. In addition to food and clothing, the center also provides referrals.

I could be wrong, but I believe that they sell the items that are donated for the most part. I'm sure there are some situations though that warrant them to GIVE the items away for free. I don't understand how some people can make comments like "who cares", you must be one of those people that has been handed a silver spoon and never actually had to do anything for yourself. Many people depend on the Faith Mission and other places like it. Why is it that so many people are so quick to judge? Some people work hard to make ends meet, but might not make it, so they depend on these organizations to get by, maybe not all the time but they know its going to be there if need be.

Aaron--if it weren't for people like you we wouldn't be able to weed out the smart ones...believe me you and many more like you posting comments are way beyond your years in ignorance. Have a nice day.

The reason human behavior like this exists is due to our monetary-based system. - If we move to a resourced-based system this will end. Check out www.zeitgeistmovie.com or www.thezeitgeistmovement.com to see the future of humanity. ("Zeitgeist" is German meaning- "The Spirit of our Times") The movie may freak you out a little bit, or stretch your concepts of humanity, but you NEED to AT LEAST watch the Zeitgeist Addendum if you can't handle the Zeitgeist movie. - Remember, once your mind expands, it can not contract. - The World, as it is right now, has the ability to sustain all life on Earth and provide everyone with an abundance of everything. Plenty of clean power for thousands of years through GeoThermal, Wind, Solar, Water Turbines and Tidal Generators. Stop falling for the fractional reserve banking lie which ruins humanity. Wake up and enlighten yourself through education...yes, education of the heart, mind and soul. Turn your TV's off!
