Andy Nameth coached the defensive line for the 1971 young Thundering Herd. The team featured in the "We Are Marshall" movie due this December.
Coach Nameth and others have dug up some prized possessions. He brought in his memorabilia revolving around the 1970 and 1971 Marshall football programs. One of his pictures looked exactly like a scene out of the movie starring Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox.
"It sure does," Nameth said. "I saw those guys in Atlanta and it brought back some real memories."
The collected Marshall artifacts, ticket stubs, schedules, a young thundering herd t-shirt will be used in the end credits of the movie.
"The project shows they are committed to accuracy," Keith Spears, Vice-President for communications and marketing at Marshall, said.
"This shows they are going to tell the real story," Nameth said.
A story living on in real Marshall memories.
You had until 5pm Tuesday to turn in your material to Marshall.
