FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear has begun a campaign to urge low- and middle-income Kentuckians to apply for a federal earned income tax credit.
Beshear said the federal tax credit is one of the best anti-poverty tools. He said he wants every eligible Kentuckian to take advantage of it.
Beshear held a press conference Monday morning to announce a list of nearly 200 free tax preparation sites where volunteers will help Kentuckians fill out their income tax forms.
The Beshear adminsitration has listed the sites on the state Web site www.assistance.ky.gov.
Eligibility for the earned income tax credit is based on income. Workers who earn up to $41,000 may be eligible for credits as high as $4,824.

I guess that people that just make above $41000.00 arent considered poverty level. And those people that only work a few months a year and make $3000.00 should get the credit, and get a big 4000.00 check when they dont even pay that much into the tax.
