Marshall Sign Vandalized

This Saturday, the Marshall Football team will hit the road and head to Morgantown. But a piece of their inspiration in the Kanawha Valley has been vandalized. In fact, it’s been vandalized so much that the name of the graduate college on the hill is something out of this world!

If you’re driving fast along I-64, you might think you read the sign wrong. But slow down, and you’ll find that something is really missing! Overnight, thieves pried, and pulled, leaving some blots empty and other letters hanging.

You might think it’s just a sign, but the folks at Marshall University in South Charleston say getting the sign on the hill where thousands of cars could see it every day.

Looking for lost letters though, might be a lost cause. Police aren't just passing this off as a teenage prank. With the recent thefts at Billy Dun Field, and people recycling the metal, it could have been adults. School leaders are hoping the vandals return what’s not theirs.

The sign cost about one hundred thousand dollars, and was paid for through some private fundraisers.
