If you live in Putnam County, you better have West Virginia license plates. The county is cracking down on those who live in the area, but still have out-of-state plates.
Putnam officials will be out all week armed with cameras in school zones to find those drivers.
Putnam County's assessor says its his job to make sure everyone is paying their fair share of taxes.
"I don't know how many it adds up to, but it's a bunch of money the county is missing out on and the schools are missing out on," D.W. "Peachie" Arthur told NewsChannel 3.
80% of that tax money goes to local schools.
The county also gets a share of the money.
Since Monday morning, 23 drivers have been stopped. They have 15 days to transfer their tags or they could be prosecuted.
