Storm Hits Boyd County

Before the storm hit the Kanawha Valley it slammed several counties to the west. Boyd County, Kentucky, especially took a beating!

High water rescues were reported, as well as trees ripped out by the roots and schools shut down.

Tempers were rising as quickly as the water along Route 3 in Boyd County.

Firefighters formed a human chain to help bring a flooded out driver to safety.

Overwhelmed storm drains and pumping systems were just part of the problem for equally overwhelmed rescuers.

Pauleen Keelin, the Boyd County Sheriff's mother, was out surveying the damage in her yard, which included the neighbor's trampoline in a very unlikely spot. It was in her tree.

People wasted no time cleaning up including a family who just moved in two months ago.

Classes ended early at several schools in Boyd County. A combination of high water and a power outage was to blame.
