A federal appeals court has overturned the election fraud conviction against an eastern Kentucky man.
The U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned the charges against Glen Turner, who was convicted on vote fraud charges along with another Pikeville businessman, a former judicial candidate and the candidate's wife.
Prosecutors claimed the four conspired to buy enough votes to assure Pikeville attorney John Doug Hays would win a race for
district judge.
That was alleged to have been done with illegal contributions from coal operator Ross Harris, a wealthy businessman who died earlier this year while still appealing his conviction.
