PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Two people are under arrest after police found hundreds of prescription pills at their home in Floyd County.
Members of Operation UNITE arrested 32-year-old Michael Helmstetter and 30-year-old April Slone Tuesday evening. Both are from Blue River just outside Prestonsburg.
Inside the house, officers say they found 513 Methadone pills, 71 Oxycodone (Percocet) pills, and 105 Hydrocodone (Lorcet) pills. Together, the drugs have a combined street value of $7,496.
"We have reason to believe these pills were being brought to Eastern Kentucky from Indiana," said Dan Smoot, law enforcement director for UNITE.
Helmstetter was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. He was convicted in Floyd County in 2004 on a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Slone was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
Both Helmstetter and Slone were lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

I've been reading some comments on here, like "help the addicts".....well, first off, the addicts need to want to help themselves....and second, they need to get off their asses and get a life & a job (and no, I am not saying that just because you don't have a job that you are absolutely a druggie).
the reason people have all these drugs is because of the stupid doctors who give people the dope for a cost of a doctor visit...To start with Floyd Co.. is so poor they have to put people in jail and make money some how...if the court system would help more people get off drugs with programs than throwing them in jail it would help a lot more....we are in a part of the u.s. were pills are every where...ky is falling under over this epidemic.. of pills..help the addicts, and bring jobs into this part of the world... and maybe it would change things alittle..
Wish the Boyd County Sheriff's dept. would get the real dealers! My comments are never posted here!!!! Try Virginia Street in Westwood. Plenty drugs are circulating there!!!!!!!!!!
