After months of filming and editing, the Marshall movie had it's first viewing in Huntington.
"It's a tribute to the heart and soul of this community," Verna Gibson said. "For these professionals to come together and tell our story so well, it leaves us with chill bumps," Dr. Keith Spears from Marshall University said.
The film crew wanted to get a feel from folks in town closely connected to the story. WSAZ Sports Director Keith Morehouse lost his father in the crash. He was among those who saw the screening.
"I have so much respect for the town. Keith Morehouse in there, I wanted to do right by Keith," McG, the director of the project, told NewsChannel 3.
"I knew the first twenty minutes was going to be tough," Keith Morehouse said. "The thing they said they'd do, they did and stayed true to the story."
McG says Oprah Winfrey recently viewed the film and was impressed.
"Word on the street is she likes it very much and they'll be talking about it on the show," McG said.
Warner Brothers had a focus group watch the movie to gauge how people respond to the story. According to the director, it tested higher than any other Warner Brothers film in the past ten years.
