It's a day to reflect and remember those lost on September 11, as well as honoring our first responders.

At 8:46 a.m., members of the Appalachian Children's Chorus rang a bell at West Virginia's State Capitol, signifying when the first airliner struck the World Trade Center tower.

The ceremony came to a close with a bagpiper playing "Amazing Grace."

Linda Campbell said, "We can't let our guard down and let it happen again. We need to safeguard our country. We need to show the people of 9/11 and families we support them and we're there for them."

In Kanawha County, commissioners have requested all county employees keep their headlights on throughout the day in remembrance of the victims.
