A Charleston landmark is coming down.

Crews started tearing down the former Thomas Jefferson Junior High School Tuesday morning.

It's at the corner of Quarrier and Morris Streets.

The demolition project is making way for a new apartment complex.

It's for C.A.M.C.'s medical students.

Families could start moving in as early as next summer.
