The Internet often serves as a tool for predators to victimize children and while sex crimes were prevalent long before the Internet, the technology of the web makes it just easier to prey on children.
But there was a time when sex offenders couldn't take advantage with just the click of a button.
Before the web and Dateline NBC's "To Catch a Predator" series, it was much more difficult for police to catch these criminals. Now, police can find proof on hard drives for criminal activity. Police say pedophiles are using the web to exploit children and many times make money. There are currently 10,000 websites that offer child pornography.
And just this weekend, we told you about the arrest of Bobby Lee Hodges. Police say Hodges tried to get pictures developed at a local pharmacy that showed him involved in sexual acts with a juvenile.
Police charged him with having child pornography.
