UPDATE from 11 p.m. Newscast
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man entrusted with teaching children has now been charged with breaking that trust.
On Friday, a grand jury indicted Jack Pierce on charges of sexual abuse. Pierce is a private music teacher from St. Albans.
Houston McIntyre said he was one of Pierce's first victims, and he filed sexual abuse charges against his former piano teacher 18 years ago. His case, however, never made it out of the grand jury.
McIntyre, 30, is now a successful graphic designer.
"I didn't want to give him the satisfaction that he tainted my life," McIntyre said. "I just had to put it in the back of my mind and get down the road."
But he never forgot what he said his piano teacher Pierce did to him when he was just a boy.
"It's really creepy as I think back on it, but I was 10 and 11 years old, and it took it a while to sink in that this is not right one bit," McIntyre said. "It started off, 'Sleep on the couch and then, Hey come in my bed.' "
But McIntyre's case never progressed past the grand jury. Eighteen years later, another former student's allegations have turned into criminal indictments for the trusted and respected music teacher.
We've tried several times to contact Pierce, but he has not responded. We went to his home Friday, and he was not there.
Since Pierce was arrested, about a dozen other students have come forward with allegations, according to sheriff's deputies. No additional charges, however, have been filed.

I am disgusted. The judgment coming from people who have never even met him. You should be ashamed.
(Yes, I'm the same one that posted below.) He also had a habit of getting his male students to do household chores for him. It was when he asked us to do this that my parents would then never allow him to be alone with us. I do believe if my parents had not done this, I might have been a victim, although I will also say that I was a very athletic and assertive kid, who would have punched the hell out of him or smacked him across the head with his brass lamp if he had tried anything with me. And to prove I really was his student, I will tell you that the brand of his grand piano was Baldwin. It was because of his piano that I feel Steinways are overrated. Baldwins are way better, in my opinion. LOL
I was also one of his students. He would say inappropriate things but never actually went as far as touching me. That's because my parents immediately stopped letting us get lessons from him. Jack Pierce is an exceptionally talented teacher and pianist; as a result, I am a pretty awesome pianist myself. However, I TOTALLY believe these allegations, as he was very creepy toward me also. I was just fortunate to have wary parents that protected me before it ever got to that point. I totally believe that he probably targeted kids that were less fortunate. He should get whatever the law allows.
