CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Since we've become a global society, it has become very important for our children to learn about other cultures at an early age.
Several students at South Charleston High School received a history lesson about Africa through dance and music.
NewsChannel 3 photojournalist John Green talked with Ohio University professor Zelma Badu-Younge about the role it plays in her native country of Ghana. Her husband Paschel taught the drumming section.
The students spent about four hours last Thursday learning the steps and music. Then they proceeded to put on an hour performance for their classmates the next day.
For more about Zelma Badu-Younge's story -- in her own words -- click on the video link above.

Very good point Mr. Obvious! This great country is going to H$$$ because everyone is trying to please everyone. And why would WSAZ was space for other news reporting this??? Oh, that's right, trying to please everyone.
would you need some booty shakin and grinding to learn about this
When each and every one of these students can recite the Founding Fathers philosophy concerning the creation of this formerly great nation then perhaps they can learn another culture. It is sad that kids do not learn History as well as Math and Science because they focus on teaching them this. Seems the person writing this feels we are part of a "Global Society"...that is wrong. We are a Sovereign Nation and have allowed this Global Society garbage to usurp our culture and our Constitution through treaties and the UN. Instead of teaching our kids what a great country this is they focus on telling them how bad we were for slavery, etc. We should be teaching them about the Founding Fathers and the courage they had to have to create this country.
