LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A former county official in Magoffin County has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he used a computer to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Federal prosecutors say former deputy Judge-Executive Walter Edward Hardin also pleaded guilty on Wednesday to receiving child pornography images. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Hardin was charged after chatting online with an undercover
officer from the Kentucky State Police. A statement from the U.S.
Attorney's office in Lexington says the officer was posing as a
14-year-old. Hardin was arrested after arriving at a location where
he thought he would be meeting the teen.

Authorities also found child pornography images on his computer
at the judge-executive's office.

Hardin is scheduled to be sentenced on June 22.

disgusting what happened to being able to trust our authority figures...he needs to be locked away hard to tell what he would have done if he had actually met the child...10 years isnt nearly enough for people like that

I don't understand what is wrong with people. There are too many women willing to have sex with these men and they chase after little girls. It really makes me sick!!!
