It's been a site for accidents time after time, but the push to make Route 35 in Putnam County safer is moving ahead.
The West Virginia Division of Highways has closed the bids on the first section of the new Route 35. It would go from the new Crooked Creek Interchange on Interstate 64 to Route 34 near the Pet Cemetery.
Putnam County Commissioners say this is a small section, but it should alleviate a lot of traffic, making the roadway safer.
The DOH received 5 bids, the lowest, nearly 32 million dollars.
